Council Chambers

Two council chambers, one approach to public seating

Council Chambers

For the municipalities of Emmen and Zwolle, OdV Architects designed two council chambers at separate locations. In both projects, the public areas are furnished with Mino Sofa One Seat and Mino Sofa Two Seats, equipped with side tables and power supply units. The Mino sofas provide comfortable seating for visitors attending council meetings, with a clean look that fits the formal setting of a municipal building.

Council meetings draw residents, press, and local stakeholders who may sit for hours at a time. The side tables and built-in electrification allow visitors to work or follow proceedings on a laptop or phone.

Municipal furniture that serves the public and fits the building.

Comfortable waiting during council sessions.

In Zwolle, OdV Architects worked with Team 4 Architecten on the interior of the 1970s city hall, a listed building. The design connects the public square in front of the building to the council chamber, using the circle as a recurring motif. The new interior respects the character of the original architecture.

Same furniture, two different settings.

Both council chambers use the same Mino configuration, showing how one product adapts to different architectural contexts. Custom fabric and frame colours allow each municipality to match the sofa to its own interior.
