LiLo Space, Munich

2022

De-Vorm-LiLo-Space-project-1
In the heart of Munich's thriving business district, the LiLo Space project shows how thoughtful acoustic design can transform contemporary work environments. Architect Olufemi Moser, working with GVG Group and Michael Schmutzer, has created a pioneering workspace that balances industrial aesthetics with acoustic comfort. The transformation of this 45,000-square-metre complex on Lilienthalallee into flexible working spaces required careful attention to sound management – a challenge addressed through the integration of Mute Fraction PET Felt Acoustic Panels throughout the interior.

Sustainable solutions for modern acoustics

The choice of Mute Fraction panels aligns seamlessly with LiLo’s commitment to resource efficiency. Manufactured from recycled PET bottles, these panels support the project’s sustainable approach while solving the acoustic challenges posed by exposed concrete ceilings and open-plan layouts. Their customisable properties allowed the design team to preserve the raw, industrial character of the interiors, while ensuring optimal sound absorption across diverse working environments – from compact 15-square-metre offices to expansive collaborative community areas.

Integration with the inventive spirit

The acoustic panels also reflect LiLo’s overarching design narrative, inspired by aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal. Here, the vibrant yellow Mute Fraction panels resonate with LiLo’s corporate colour, chosen to project freshness, youthfulness, and confidence. This defining colour extends across the interiors and façades, reinforcing LiLo’s brand identity. The result is a coherent spatial experience that supports the campus’s three usage categories – WORK, MEET, and OFFICE. Thanks to its thoughtful acoustic strategy, LiLo offers consistent sound quality across all spaces, ensuring both focus and collaboration can thrive in this innovative Munich workplace.
